Golf
The Picciolo Golf Club was the first golf
course in Sicily.
Created in 1989, to the design of the architect Luigi Rota Caremoli, it is an 18
hole, PAR 72, course with an overall range of 5.870 meters. It offers a driving
range and putting and pitching greens.
The
breathtaking vista of Etna, immense and in close proximity, enhances the setting
of the course that also boasts highly evocative views over the surrounding
countryside. Scents and colours are exalted by a mild climate that enables
playing golf all year round. The Club House, built from a former 17th century
noble house, still maintains the memories of the past, such as the old
nutcracking mill, the millstone and the family chapel.
Resort
The Palmerston Etna Golf Resort & Spa is an initiative of Palmerston Hotels &
Resorts, a division of CCA International, a company set up in 1982 that
specializes in the planning, realization, organization and management of
prestigious clubs in Asia and Europe: business clubs, athletic clubs, country
clubs and, above all, golf clubs. In 2000, CCA I
nternational
began its entry into the world of hotel management, setting up the Palmerston
Hotels & Resorts company. The company’s mission is to create an international
tradename that comprises outstanding boutique hotels, spa and resorts all under
one roof.
The Palmerston Etna Golf Resort & Spa is situated on the north-eastern slope of
Etna, southwest of Taormina, on the boundary between the Etna Park and the
Alcantara River Park. The land extends for more than 55 hectares and comprises
vineyards, walnut and hazel groves, in which there are the “The Picciolo Golf
Club”, the Club House, the hotel and a complex of villas for those seeking
property in one of the most unique settings in the world.
Spa & Fitness
950 square metres of total fitness! The Spa receives guests warmly, enveloping
them in a hushed, intimate and satisfying atmosphere. The splendour of the
marvellous
mosaics,
the brightness of the white stone, the warmth of the cherry wood, the lava stone
that evoked the nearby Alcantara gorge, the natural light streaming through from
the above skylights: all harmonize to create the feeling of a genuine “temple of
fitness”.
The centre offers a cardio-fitness room, sauna, Turkish bath, water paradise,
traditional pail showers, hydrotherapeutic heated swimming pool, hydro massage,
relaxation room and various cabins available for face and body treatments. At
the Juice Bar, you can enjoy fresh colourful fruit cocktails and vegetables
specifically chosen for well-being and relaxation.
Rooms
The Palmerston Etna comprises of 67 standard and superior rooms, furnished in a
classic sicilian style with wooden furniture and fully equipped. The rooms
differ for their aspect and structural characteristics: some have balconies and
enjoy a magnificent view of the volcano; others have a graceful veranda and look
onto the interior garden; while others again have a pleasant and relaxing view
over the attractive surrounding countryside.
The
rooms are available with twin or double bed arrangement.
Suite
The Palmerston Etna has 9 suites and 22 junior suites, fitted out with all
comforts and furnished in harmony with the natural and architectonic setting.
They all have a comfortable living area and assure through the attention to
every detail a charming stay.
